The Guild of Book Workers 100th Anniversary Exhibition
February 9th through March 18th
The Utah Museum of Fine Arts and the Book Arts Program present The Guild of Book Workers 100th Anniversary Exhibition. Highlighting the recent work of some of the best bookbinders and book artists in the United States, the books in this exhibition represent traditional fine bindings, pop-ups, sculptural forms, and other outstanding examples of book work today. Materials used by these innovative book workers range from aluminum to leather to PVC. Numerous printmaking methods, calligraphy, photography, and other techniques produce both text and imagery. Founded in 1906, The Guild of Book Workers is dedicated to promoting excellence in the art and craft of fine book production. Today, the one thousand members of the Guild seek to raise public awareness of the hand book arts and sound book conservation and restoration.
