We support University of Utah students, staff, and faculty in their interdisciplinary research and productivity, with an emphasis on arts and design, multimedia production, 3D and prototyping technologies, multimodal communication, and experiential learning.

Katherine's Courtyard Level 2 EnclosureThe K.W. Dumke Fine Arts & Architecture Library and its staff are devoted to supporting exploration in the creative fields. Our focus is on the Fine, Performing, and Media Arts, Architecture, Planning, and Design. Come to explore our unique collections and consult with our highly-trained staff.

Katherine's Courtyard provides students and the University community with additional study, relaxation, performance, and exhibition space. The majority of the new Courtyard is outdoors, but on Level 2 there is a four-season enclosure; it is open to the outdoors during warm weather, and closed with radiant floor heating during cold weather. Enter Level 1 from Mom's Café and the east book stacks. Enter Level 2 through the Dumke Library and next to the Reserve Desk. Courtyard levels are connected by staircases at both end.

The Marriott Library provides the University Community with access to a fleet of plastic-extrusion 3D printers. Our knowledgeable staff can assist with many aspects of the printing process from idea to prototype.

audio studioThe Audio Studio was created to assist the University of Utah communicate digital learning objects into curriculum/course projects by housing a soundproof Studio with professional microphones and the capacity for creating, recording and editing digital soundfiles.

video studioThe Video Studio is a special projects space located in the J. Willard Marriott Library to allow for the creation of experimental visual projects, learning objects, oral histories, or general interviews. The Video Studio can provide in-depth project consultations helping to guide the integration of visual media into your project.

For student and faculty entrepreneurs who are looking for materials, processes, and technologies to incorporate into new inventions, product designs, and built environments.

The K. W. Dumke Materials Collection gives you hands-on experience with 1500 new-to-market material samples. Search the MaterialConneXion database online for 6000 more! Explore materials by their physical properties, recommended uses, and sustainability standards. Peruse photos of the materials and get manufacturers' contact information.

The Simple Video Studio is an easy-to-use media recording space where you can create high-quality and polished video projects without knowing anything about lights, cameras, or microphones.

Simple Video Studio iconAll that's required is a reservation and a USB flash drive.

Located on Level 2 of the J. Willard Marriott Library, room 2500B.

The J Willard Marriott Library offers a wide range of support and services for virtual, augmented, and extended reality.

Virtual reality equipment is available for checkout, walk-up, and classroom/lab use.

The library's VR services also include one-off instruction sessions, group courses, and workshops on initial use and course integration.

The Podcast Booths are a user-scheduled media production spaces, located in ProtoSpace, on Level 2 of Marriott Library. They are sound-proofed spaces, with Mac computers, and utilize the audio recording software Audacity. Podcasters use a Snowball microphone and can export their recording files to a cloud-based storage system.
