Stanton G. Fisher Diary (Ms 6)

University of Utah Marriott Library, Manuscripts Division

The Stanton G. Fisher Diary (1875-1877) contains a day-by-day account for the year 1875 and from August to December of the year 1877. The entries for 1875 are brief statements of the events of the day, concerned with events such as hunting, trapping, stock raising, building homes and barns, and business trips to such places as Bozeman, Franklin, Malad, Corinne, and Blackfoot. The last part is the account of Fisher and his scouts during their enlistment of one month, August 16th to September 17th, 1877, with General O. O. Howard in his campaign against the Nez Pierce. Mention is given of Fisher's meeting in Yellowstone National Park with the Radersburg party, who had been visiting the Lower Geyser Basin when confronted and captured by a group of Chief Joseph's Indians. A register is available.
