    Manuscript Collections    

This guide provides brief descriptions of the material formats of collections which have been deposited, as well as short descriptions of the individuals and organizations which have deposited their papers or records. The Manuscripts Divison houses collections containing correspondence, scrapbooks, competition rosters, organizational minues, architectural drawings and site plans, news clippings, oral history transcripts,and miscellaneous items ranging from lift tickets to placemats. Many of the collections have individual finding aids linked to the brief descriptions found here.

In selecting collections for the guide, it was decided to be inclusive rather than exclusive; therefore, some collections listed may contain only a small amount of information about skiing.

Ms 146 Frank Moss Papers 370.5 lin. ft.
Frank Moss (b. 1911) was a United States Senator for Utah from 1958 to 1976, and was involved in the development of the proposed Four Seasons Ski Resort near Provo, Utah. Included are documents, memos, and correspondence concerning the development of the Four Seasons Ski Resort. This information is located in box 571, folders 9 and 10 of the collection. Ms 162 Borghild Marie Bergstedt Paulsen Papers .1 lin. ft
Borghild Marie Bergstedt Paulsen’s papers consist of a biography (1970) which includes reminiscences of skiing in the foothills and on Ensign Peak, her comments on the Brighton, Alta, and Park City Ski Areas, and her thoughts on her involvement with the Wasatch Mountain Club. Paulsen's (b. 1895) interest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints inspired her to emigrate from Norway to the United States. She settled in Utah in 1914, and became one of the first female ski jumpers.


Ms 283 Wasatch Mountain Club Records 11.75 lin. ft.
The Wasatch Mountain Club was formed in August 1913, and remains in operation. The club embraces and supports a broad range of outdoor activities including hiking, ski mountaineering and river running. The club has also been involved with wilderness preservation issues since the 1960s, and continues to provide outdoor opportunities for club members and the public. Included in the Wasatch Mountain Club Records (1920-1995) are financial records, membership lists, activity schedules, newsletters, brochures and pamphlets, summit registers, corresponence, meeting minutes, and ski-related material. Ms 438 Ute Alpine Club .5 lin. ft.
The Ute Alpine Club Records (1959-1981) contain correspondence, news clippings, manuals, schedules, descriptions of club activities, a club history, and copies of the constitution and by-laws. The Ute Alpine Club was originally formed as a ski club in 1954, but expanded to include members interested in all types of outdoor activities. An indexed register is available


Ms 544 Park City West Records 3 lin. ft.
Park City West ski area opened in December 1968. Originally developed and owned by the Ensign Company, it was called Park West until it was sold in 1994 and renamed Wolf Mountain. Included in the Park City West Records (1967-1982) are organization records, brochures, maps, meeting minutes, expansion information, architectural drawings, finanacial and legal documents, a scrapbook, and a selection of general ski area information. This material was donated by Calvin R. MacKay. A register of the collection is available.


Ms 592 Jim Gaddis Papers 1 lin. ft.
Jim Gaddis was an accomplished American collegiate skier who also received consideration as a choice for the 1964 Olympic Ski Team. He created the Gaddis Training Organization to coach and train young skiers in the Salt Lake Area. Included in the collection of papers (1950-1960) are a scrapbook, photocopies of newspaper clippings and photos documenting his involvement with skiing and information about the Gaddis Training Organization. Ms 593 Gale Dick Papers 2 lin. ft.
Gale Dick has been involved with a Utah organization called Save Our Canyons and is also a member of the Wasatch Mountain Club. The collection includes papers concerning Utah as an Olympic site and other Olympic related material. A register of the collection is available.


Ms 610 Richard Bird Papers .5 lin. ft.
Richard Bird spent more than 20 years with the USDA Forest Service as an inspector of ski lifts. It was through his work with the Forest Service that many of the standards for safe operation of ski lifts and trams was established. Included in the 1963-1990 collection are technical photos and drawings describing the inspection and operation of ski lifts. A register of the collection is available.


Accn 425 Intermountain Ski Instructors Association Records 4 lin. ft.
The Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) sets the national standards for ski instruction. Founded by Bill Lash, the association has prospered in many different regions of the United States, including PSIA Intermountain. This 1956 - 1975 collection contains minutes of PSIA meetings and many corresponding documents related to ski instruction and PSIA. An inventory of the collection is available. Accn 1006 Alf Engen Papers 7 lin. ft.
Alf Engen was a world-class ski and ski jumping competitor in the 1930s and 1940s. He directed the ski school at Alta from 1948-1989, and is one of the most familiar personalities in Utah ski history. Included in the 1930 - 1980s collection are photocopies of scrapbooks documenting Mr. Engen's long and exciting skiing career. An inventory is available.


Accn 1056 Hugh Olander Papers .1 lin. ft.
A member of the University of Utah Ski team in the 1940s, Mr. Olander has also been a ski instructor at the Brighton Ski School. The collection contains photocopies of related news items.


Accn 1070 Tenth Mountain Division Association Records 2.75 lin. ft.
The Tenth Mountain Division Association Records (1948-1993) contain activity announcements, historical information, newsletters, publications, and a poster related to the Utah Chapter of this organization. The Tenth Mountain Division was organized shortly before the United States entered the second world war. Originally the 87th Regiment, the group became the Tenth Light Division, and later the Tenth Mountain Division. The division trained at Camp Hale, near Leadville, Colorado, before being shipped to Italy.


Accn 1071 Jim Shane Papers .25 lin. ft.
Jim Shane was one of Alta's first ski patrolman. An avid skier and owner of the Goldminer’s Daughter Lodge at Alta, he was in involved with the Wasatch Mountain Club and has been an important figure in Alta's history. Included in the collection are copies of the newsletter Alta Powder News, ski patrol and avalanche information, information on Shane’s involvement with the Alta Ski Area, and the Goldminer’s Daughter Lodge, including several articles concerning the 1985 explosion at the lodge. Accn 1080 Utah Skiing 4.25 lin. ft.
This collection contains miscellaneous items related to skiing received from various donors. Included are industry reports, ski logs, articles, clippings, posters, interviews and biographical information on skiers, general information and memorabilia (such as an Alta 50th anniversary banner, ski patches, buttons, and old lift tickets). The collection is ongoing.


Accn 1096 M. Earl Miller Collection 2 lin. ft.
The M. Earl Miller collection contains news articles, correspondence, and memorabilia regarding Miller’s career as ski coach at Weber State University and ski instructor at Snow Basin, with additional information about his wife and sons’ ski activities.


Accn 1102 Timp Haven Ski Area .5 lin. ft.
Timp Haven Ski Area, located beneath Mt. Timpanogos, was opened in 1943 by Ray and Ava Stewart. Included in the collection are photocopies of articles concerning the Stewarts and their involvement with the Timp Haven Ski Area, articles discussing ski racing and jumping at Timp Haven, and articles regarding ski resort development. In 1971, the Stewarts sold the area to actor Robert Redford who renamed it Sundance.


Accn 1134 Gordon and Peggy Alcott Papers 1 lin. ft.
Gordon and Peggy Alcott were skiers at Alta during the resort's early years, and continued their association with the area for many years. Gordon Alcott was a member of the Alta Ski Patrol. Included in the collection are ski patrol and first aid information, copies of the Alta Powder News, information on Alta skiing, and articles concerning skiing in general. Accn 1161 Suzy Harris Rytting Papers 1 lin. ft.
Suzy Harris Rytting was a member of the 1952 Olympic team and has dozens of awards and honors to her credit. She is known as one of Utah's most successful competitors. Her papers include many news clippings and copies of ski-related documents from 1944 to 1988. An inventory is available for the collection.


Accn 1192 Bill Lash Papers 3.5 lin. ft.
Bill Lash was the founder of the Professional Ski Instructors Association (PSIA), and the earlier Intermountain Ski Instructors Association. Bill was very involved in these organizations and ski instruction in the intermountain region. The collection (1940s-1980s) contains records of these associations. Accn 1218 The Park City Ski Corporation Records .5 lin. ft.
The Park City Ski Corporations Records (1991-1997) contain public announcements, brochures and information packets, and other material regarding the Park City Ski area. The area’s newsletter, On the Mountain and Olympic-related news are also included in the collection. An inventory is available.


Accn 1219 Jack Walker Papers .5 lin. ft.
Jack Walker was a member of the Mount Olympus Ski Club and a ski jumper at Ecker Hill in the 1930s and 1940s. Information on the Mount Olympus Ski Club and news clippings from the 1930s and 1940s regarding Ecker Hill and ski jumping are included in the collection. An accession record of the collection is available.


Accn 1233 Woody Anderson Papers 1 lin. ft.
The Woody Anderson Papers (1956-1991) contain news clippings, brochures, travel guides, correspondence, resumes, and a typescript of a two-part interview with Anderson. The collection concerns Anderson's ski industry career, beginning in the 1950s when he taught skiing and owned a ski shop in Brighton. Anderson (b. 1932) has been involved in the ski industry since 1947, when he worked for the Deseret News Ski School. In addition to instructing, owning ski shops and ski areas, and promoting skiing opportunities for youth, he has been associated with the Professional Ski Instructors of America and the Utah Ski Association. Accn 1246 Marvin Alton Melville Papers 18.75 lin. ft.
Marvin Melville is well known in the world of competitive skiing. He began skiing at the age of ten and raced competitively through junior high and high school. Melville skied for the University of Utah and was a member of the 1956 and 1960 Olympic ski teams. He coached at the University of Utah, and assisted in coaching the 1964 Olympic ski team. The collection includes scrapbooks, newspaper and magazine articles, books on skiing and the Olympics, and documents pertaining to the United States Ski Association (USSA). Accn 1250 Barbara Amidon Papers .75 lin. ft.
Barbara Amidon (b. 1946) has been involved in skiing in Utah for many years. She and her husband Dave are instructors at the Alta Ski Area, and she has been associated with the United States Ski Association, Intermountain Division since the early 1970s. Included in the 1963-2001 collection are USSA records and other miscellaneous skiing items. An inventory is available.


Accn 1255 Luella Seeholzer Papers .5 lin. ft.
Luella Seeholzer and her family built and continue to operate Beaver Mountain Ski Area near Logan, Utah. The collection includes articles and newspaper clippings regarding the Seeholzers and the development of the Beaver Mountain Ski Area. See also Accn 1305. Accn 1256 The Larry James Warren Papers 3.75 lin. ft.
Larry Warren is a news reporter for KUTV, Channel 2 in Salt Lake City. This collection includes photocopies of transcripts of television commercials and interviews on skiing in Utah, particularly at Ecker Hill. Many well-known ski personalities are featured in the transcripts. Skiing articles from the Park City Lodestar magazine, news clippings about the 10th Mountain Division and the “Jans Winter Welcome” ski event, and documents related to the Olympics and the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) are also included in the collection. Accn 1267 The Salt Lake Olympic Bid Committee Records 6.5 lin. ft.
The Salt Lake Olympic Bid Committee Records (1985-1993) collection contains information regarding the history and development of the committee, which was organized to bid for holding the 1998 Winter Olympic in Salt Lake City. Included in the collection are letters, event condition specifications, bid books and notebooks, committee lists and reports, promotion packets, Olympic statistics, news releases, newsletters, contracts, and news clippings. Accn 1269 Frank Rasmussen Papers 2 lin. ft.
This collection contains three scrapbooks and one file of original news clippings from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s compiled by Frank Rasmussen. The Rasmussen ranch was the home of the famous “Ecker Hill” ski jump which captivated early ski jumpers and enthusiasts. Additional information about Rasmussen's Ranch and the people involved in jumping at Ecker Hill is also included.


Accn 1305 Seeholzer Family Scrapbook 1 lin. ft.
The Seeholzer family built and continues to operate the Beaver Mountain Ski Area near Logan, Utah. Included in the collection are photocopies of one scrapbook of the Seeholzer's and the Beaver Mountain Ski Area. See also Accn 1255.


Accn 1392 Marthinius A. Strand Papers .5 lin. ft.
Marthinius A. Strand was an active and well-known supporter of skiing in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, and was inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame in 1958. He founded the first skiing club in the state of Utah, and promoted jumping and alpine skiing. The collection includes clippings that document Mr. Strand's long involvement with skiing in Utah.


Accn 1401 Corey Engen Papers .5 lin. ft.
Corey Engen came to the United States from Norway, following his older brothers Alf and Sverre. He quickly became recognized for his skiing accomplishments much like his brothers had before him. He directed the Snow Basin Ski School until the 1950s, then passed the responsibility on to Earl Miller so that he could build Brundage Mountain ski area near McCall, Idaho. The collection contains copies of three scrapbooks of the youngest of the Engen brothers. An inventory is available.


Accn 1402 The Adrien and Emilie Segil Papers 2.5 lin. ft.
Brother and sister Adrien (1911-1992) and Emilie (b. 1920) Segil were well-known retail clothing store owners in Salt Lake City. They were also ski enthusiasts. Adrien was awarded lifetime membership in PSIA and they were both regularly featured in skiing news. Along with fashion news and information, the collection (1940s-1987) contains news articles, programs and other skiing related material.


Accn 1411 Suzanne Skinner Papers .5 lin. ft.
The Suzanne Skinner Papers (1944-1993, bulk 1940s) contain news clippings, race lists, and correspondence. Skinner is a native of France who worked for the U. S. State Department during World War II. In 1941 she took a vacation to Alta, Utah, and subsequently lived there for four years.


Accn 1414 Alta Ski Area Records .5 lin. ft.
Founded by Joe Quinney and the Salt Lake Winter Sports Association in 1938, Alta is one of the oldest ski areas in Utah. It was also a prosperous mining community before skiing became popular. The Alta Ski Area Records (1948-1994) contain correspondence, industry studies, pamphlets and brochures, news clippings, and photostats of legal documents. This material was donated by Janet Quinney Lawson. An inventory is available.


Accn 1415 Ski Utah (Utah Ski Association) Records .5 lin. ft.
Ski Utah is the marketing arm of the Utah Ski Association. Included in the collection are various marketing packages, news releases and newsletters.


Accn 1417 Jim Varin Papers .1 lin. ft.
Jim Varin was a ski instructor with the Sun Valley Ski School. The collection contains miscellaneous ski instructor, ski area and ski association newsletters, and some original news clippings regarding ski activities.


Accn 1418 Ted Major Papers .1 lin. ft.
Ted Major, founder of the Teton Science School, skied Alta in the 1930s and 1940s. The collection contains various news clippings and copies of skiing articles.


Accn 1428 Dick Movitz Papers .1 lin. ft.
Dick Movitz was a prominent ski racer in the 1940s and the 1950s, and was a member of the 1948 Olympic ski team. This collection contains news articles and race results from the 1948 Harriman Cup and National Championship ski races which were held concurrently that year.


Accn 1469 Bonnie Speyer Carluccio Papers 2 lin. ft.
Bonnie Speyer Carluccio was a prominent ski racer in the 1950s at both the university and Junior National levels. Her father Fred Speyer was a stockholder in Alta and manager of the ski lifts. The collection (1937-1959) contains memorabilia from the Speyer family, news clippings from her races, information about Mr. Speyer and the construction of ski lifts at Alta, and Alta history. Accn 1488 The Edgar Bering Papers 1 lin. ft.
Edgar Bering was a University of Utah student in the 1930s, and was an avid ski racer and jumper during those years. The collection holds two photocopies of a scrapbook containing articles about Bering, and also miscellaneous ski jumping competition programs and correspondence.


Accn 1506 The William J. Roosen Papers 5 lin. ft.
William Roosen was a professor of early modern diplomacy and European history. He also taught a course on ski history during his years at Northern Arizona University. The collection includes materials from Roosen’s history class, pamphlets and brochures on various ski areas, miscellaneous news clippings and articles, and issues of the Alta Powder News (1969-1991). An inventory of the collection is available.


Accn 1570 Earl Andrew Miller Papers .5 lin. ft.
Winner of the 1942 Utah Four Way Championship at age seventeen, Miller went on to become one of the founders of the PSIA. He has been an avid inventor, and is well-known for his ski binding and ski brake designs. The collection holds information on Miller’s background and business achievements, advertisements and promotional material from the Miller Ski Company, his awards and accomplishments, and news clippings about Miller and skiing. Accn 1571 John Hoagland Avalanche Publications Collection 3.5 lin. ft.
John Hoagland is a Winter Recreation Specialist with the USDA Forest Service and is also a member of the Utah Ski Advisory Board. The collection includes reports, studies, correspondence, pamphlets, handbooks and notes relating to avalanche safety, control, and impacts on skiing. Manuals for the USDA FS National Avalanche School are also included in the collection. An inventory is available.


Accn 1573 The Jean and Wilburn Pickett Papers 29 lin. ft.
The Jean and Wilburn Pickett collection contains information on the mining and ski resort history of Alta. Correspondence, oral histories, news clippings, financial statements, race information and results, awards, and other Alta information. The John Gary Lund collection of interviews and papers (c. 1876-1965) is also a part of this collection, and contains several interviews of people who have experienced Alta through the years. Jean Pickett was the publisher of Alta Powder News and the collection also contains copies of the newsletter from 1982 through 1998. An inventory of the collection is available.


Accn 1574 Richard Nebeker .1 lin. ft.
In a memoir, Richard Nebeker recalls his experiences in the Ski Troops during World War II. A collection of photograph reproductions also accompanies the written material. An inventory is available.


Accn 1576 The Inventories to the XV Olympics Records 1.5 lin. ft.
The Inventories to the XV Olympic Records (1995 and 1998) consists of the published inventories to the 1988 Calgary Olympic Games. The collection contains nine spiral bound books that describe the records of Accession PR-90-001, held in 620 containers in the City of Calgary Archives, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Accn 1586 The Einar Fredbo Skiing Scrapbook 2.5 lin. ft.
Einar Fredbo was a skiing colleague of the well-known Engens, and other Norwegians who ski jumped in the late 1920s and 1930s. The scrapbook (1929-1933) includes news clippings covering ski jumping activities. The collection also includes a copy of a booklet published in 1929 commemorating the 40th anniversary of a Swedish skiing club. An inventory of the collection is available.


Accn 1601 The Alan Engen Papers 1.5 lin. ft.
Alan Engen is the author of For the Love of Skiing: A Visual History. He is also the son of famed ski personality Alf Engen. The collection contains drafts and background information related to the publication of Engen’s book, as well as correspondence from many of the skiers featured in the book. An inventory of the collection is available.


Accn 1643 William Rhodes Papers .1 lin. ft.
William Rhodes was the president of the Mt. Ogden Ski Club, and was honored at the 1996 Ski Archives Affair for his Ski Patrol service at Snow Basin during the 1940s. The collection contains two news articles about Snow Basin.


Accn 1644 The Lou Lorenz Papers 1.5 lin. ft.
Lou Lorenz has been a ski instructor for many years. He has taught at Little Mountain, Solitude and Park City, and owns and operates the Greater Salt Lake Ski School. The collection contains PSIA newsletters and memorabilia from his years as a ski instructor, as well as several editions of the British Ski Year Book of the Ski Club of Great Britain and the Alpine Ski Club.


Accn 1645 The Alpine Training School Scrapbook 2.5 lin. ft.
The Alpine Training School Scrapbook collection contains information about the Intermountain Junior Nationals, as well as the Alpine Training School. Many well-known skiers and coaches have been associated with the school. News clippings and photos of such personalities as Steve Clegg, Marvin Melville, Bill Spencer, Jim Gaddis, all the ski-related Millers, and Karen Korfanta are included in the scrapbook.


Accn 1662 Darrell D. Robison Papers 2.75 lin. ft.
The Darrell D. Robison Papers (1947-1977) contain correspondence, a scrapbook, news articles, race results and ski publications following his career. Darrell D. "Pinky" Robison (b. 1932) was a member of the University of Utah ski team, as well as the 1952 Olympic Ski team. He also served in the United States Air Force. An inventory is available.


Accn 1678 The Hack Miller Papers 14.5 lin. ft.
Hack Miller was a sports writer and editor for the Deseret News from the 1930s to the 1970s. The Hack Miller Papers (1937-1996) contain newspaper articles, magazine stories, and other material pertaining to Miller’s career as a Utah journalist. Within this extensive collection are many ski related articles which have been placed into one box called “Skiing in Utah, 1940-1981,” but there are additional ski and Olympic related materials throughout the collection. Accn 1689 Karen Korfanta Papers 4 lin. ft.
The Karen Korfanta Papers (1941-1998) contain correspondence, news clippings, a scrapbook, brochures, pamphlets, and ski memorabilia. Korfata (b. 1945) was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She grew up in Pinedale, where her father managed a small ski area and coached the neighborhood children. She began racing competitively in the fourth grade, and continued racing throughout junior high and high school. Korfanta received a B.S. in biological sciences from the University of Utah, where she was coached by Marvin Melville. She was selected for the 1968 Women's Alpine Olympic Ski Team, but was sidelined by an injury shortly before the games. After retiring from competition in the early 1970s, Korfanta worked at various ski areas before becoming the race manager at Park City Ski Area in the mid-1980s. An inventory is available.


Accn 1708 The Wilby Durham Papers .5 lin. ft.
The Wilby Durham Papers (1949-1962) contain correspondence, news clippings, copies of photographs, and other items relating to the formation of the Utah Ski Associates and the activities of the Salt Lake Ski Club. Durham served as an officer in both the Intermountain Ski Association (ISA) and the Salt Lake Ski Club, and was also the executive secretary for the Utah Ski Associates. Accn 1721 The Utah Ski Associates Records .5 lin. ft.
Originally called the Olympic Ski Club, the Utah Ski Associates was formed by a group of business leaders who wanted to promote skiing opportunities in the Wasatch Mountains, and explore the possibility of hosting the Winter Olympics in Utah. The Utah Ski Associates Records (1962-1964) collection contains correspondence, meeting minutes, member rosters, news clippings, and other information detailing the Association’s interest in Utah skiing and venue development. Accn 1723 Alton Crane Melville Papers 4 lin. ft.
The Alton Crane Melville Papers (1953-2001) contain correspondence, articles, speeches, minutes, pamphlets, brochures, and news clippings pertaining to the National Ski Association (NSA), currently known as the United States Ski Association (USSA) and the 1960 Olympic Games. In addition, the collection contains information on the Melville, Deseret, and Abraham Irrigation Companies. Melville (1904-1966) wrote The Melville Family of Utah, and served as president of the NSA. An inventory is available.


Accn 1741 Dan Steffen Papers .25 lin. ft.
The Dan Steffen Papers contain material on ski instruction. Steffen is a member of the ski archives advisory committee. He has taught skiing for many years at several of the Salt Lake area ski resorts.


Accn 1771 Patrick N. Miller Papers 5 lin. ft.
The Patrick N. Miller Papers (1974-1996) contain news clippings related to the University of Utah Ski Team. Miller served as head coach of the team. He also served s president of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association. An inventory is available.


Accn 1772 David Eccles Quinney Papers 2.75 lin. ft.
The David Eccles Quinney Papers (1932-2000) contain a scrapbook, correspondence, and publications related to the Sun Valley ski resort. Quinney (1919-1974) was a member of the Utah Ski Club and the Aurora Ski Club. An inventory is available.


Accn 1794 The William Spencer Papers .5 lin. ft.
The William (Bill) Spencer Papers (1960-2000) document both Spencer’s own pursuits as a top University of Utah and United States skier and Olympic Biathlete, and the development of biathlon as a sport in the U.S. and the Olympics. The collection contains news clippings, articles, newsletters and memorabilia associated with Spencer’s activities, and additional biathlon information. A copy of former Olympic team coach Arthur Stegen’s book: Biathlon is included. An inventory of the collection is available.

Robert (Bob) Theobald scrapbook contains copies of articles, news clippings, advertisements, and other materials relating to Theobald’s career as a freestyle skier, ski school owner and instructor, and member of the Utah Demonstration Team. The Brighton Ski Resort Records (1915-2000) contain photocopies of a master plan, brochures, season pass forms, trail maps, posters, articles, news clippings, and typescript histories detailing the development of both Brighton, Utah and Brighton Ski Resort. Skiing came to Brighton in 1936, when members of a local ski club constructed a rope tow near the Brighton Hotel, thus creating the first serviced ski area in the state of Utah. The Harold Judd Goodro Papers (1946-2000) contain biographical information, news clippings, and copies of the Wasatch Rambler. Goodro (1916-2000) was a skier, mountaineer, instructor in the University of Utah's Outdoor Program, and member of the Wasatch Mountain Club.

The Jeffrey P. Davis Papers (1987-1996) consist of resumes and a scrapbook. Davis (b. 1968) was an anateur snowboarder for the 1987-1988 season. He later turned pro, competing in the 1988-1991 seasons.

The Josh Roberts Papers (1998-1999) consist of color photocopies of magazine ads for snowboards featuring Roberts and a published interview. Josh is a snowboarder living in Salt Lake City.

The Rich Varga Papers (1990) contain magazine articles on snowboarding.. Varga (b. 1970), lives in Salt Lake City, where he is part owner of Revealed Water Products, a retail outlet for whitewater equipment.

The Casey Buxton Papers contain color photocopies of flyers and magazine clippings. Buxton is a competitive snowboarder.


Accn 1911 Josh Scheuerman Papers .1 lin. ft.
The Josh Scheuerman Papers contain magazines related to snowboarding. Scheuerman (b. 1978) snowboards competitively and has written articles on snowboarding.


Accn 1920 Stu and Greta O’Brien Papers 2.5 lin. ft.
The Stu and Greta O’Brien Papers (1980-1997) consist of color photocopies of three portfolios documenting the careers of these professional skiers. Stu (1956-1996) was a member of the U. S. World Cup Freestyle Team and also competed in Mogul events. Greta Paulsen-O’Brien (b. 1958) competed in freestyle events.

The Karen Huntoon Miller Papers (1974-1983) contain correspondence, resumes, newspaper articles, and skiing artifacts. Miller (b. 1949) began skiing at an early age, competing in downhill and freestyle events. She has been world champion in the women's mogul competition and competed in numerous freestyle events. Accn 1935 Alan Schoenberger Papers .1 lin. ft.
The Alan Schoenberger Papers contain letters, articles, and a biography. Schoenberger is a performance artist and champion skier. He has created touring theatrical productions called Schoenberger Skis the Stage and Alan Schoenberger Ski Bum in Piano Roll.

The Robert L. Autry Papers (1950-1970) contain a notebook of work history and resumes. Autry (b. 1931) has been involved in instruction and coaching since receiving a B.S. in physical education in 1959 from the University of Nevada. He served as chair of the Ski School Directors Committee in 1972-1973.
