Dale Broadhurst Papers (Accn 913)
The Dale Broadhurst Papers (1800-1982) contains documents related to
the origin of the Book of Mormon and the early history of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Included are photocopies of
correspondence, diaries, journals, theses, articles, and news clippings.
These documents were compiled by Dale Broadhurst while working toward his
master's degree at the Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio.
The primary focus of these papers concerns the similarities between the
Book of Mormon and various manuscripts produced by members of the Spalding
family between 1820 and 1845. This collection contains an extensive array
of primary and secondary sources, as well as Broadhurst's notes,
correspondence, and working papers. Dale Broadhurst donated these papers
in 1986. An inventory is available.
