Podcast Producer Tutorial

Podcasts can be captured through the Podcast Producer application or by recording or uploading through the Podcast Capture web interface. Podcast Producer lets you record your screen (which could contain PowerPoints, websites, etc.), your face (through a camera), or just audio. These files are then given to workflows that can post them to iTunes U or make them available to students in other ways. Students can view these files on their laptops or sync them with their iPhone or iPod for portable learning.

Using Podcast Capture

Request access to Podcast Producer.

Log in to the Podcast Capture web interface.

The Video, Dual, and Audio options will record from any classroom equipment, including the instructor Mac or PC, a personal laptop, the VCR or DVD player, or the document camera.

Video, Dual, Audio, and File options

Once you select an option, you can select a room to capture from, and then click Record.

Select camera

Podcast Capture will record for up to 4 hours, until you hit the Pause button. You can pause if you have something to say off-record or to submit the recording to be processed.

When paused, Start Over will delete your current recording and start a new one, Record will begin recording again, and Publish will allow you to post to Podcast Producer for publishing.

Paused recording

When you publish, you will be able to select a workflow for processing, enter an episode title and description, and click Finish to upload your recording.

Post podcast

If you would like a workflow to process your files or if you would like more information about Podcast Producer, please make a note of it on the request form.
