Counterform

2nd through March 30th
Utah bookmakers are invited to submit work for Counterform,
the Book Arts Program’s sixth annual juried book
exhibition. For the first time, Counterform is open
to all Utah bookmakers, including professional, amateur,
and student book artists. From the witty to the sublime,
the poignant to the preposterous, Counterform books
are fresh and inspiring. Be part of an ongoing tradition
and celebrate book arts in Utah!
Please
indicate your intent to enter by sending an email to
Marnie Powers-Torrey at marnie.torrey@utah.edu. An entry
form and further information will be sent in response
to the intent to enter. Entries are due Friday, January
19th at 4:30 pm. THE EXHIBITION
IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Marriott Library wall cases, levels 1 & 2
Gallery hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:00 to
midnight; Friday, 7:00 to 8:00, Saturday, 9:00 to 8:00,
Sunday, 10:00 to midnight.

The
Guild of Bookworkers 100th Anniversary Exhibition
February
9th through March 18th
The
Utah Museum of Fine Arts and the Book Arts Program present
The Guild of Book
Workers 100th Anniversary Exhibition. Highlighting the
recent work of some of the best
bookbinders and book artists in the United States, the
books in this exhibition represent
traditional fine bindings, pop-ups, sculptural forms,
and other outstanding examples of
book work today. Materials used in these innovative
books range from aluminum to
leather to PVC. Printmaking methods, calligraphy, photography,
and other techniques
produce both text and imagery.
Founded
in 1906, The Guild of Book Workers is dedicated to promoting
excellence
in the art and craft of fine book production. Today,
the one thousand members of
the Guild seek to raise public awareness of the hand
book arts and sound book conservation and
restoration.

John and Marsha Price Museum Building, University of
Utah

Wednesday, 10:00 to 8:00; Saturday and Sunday, 11:00
