The Counterform exhibition returns to the Special Collections Gallery of the J. Willard Marriott Library. This juried exhibit showcases the outstanding work produced by Utah’s bookmakers and printers, providing bookwork aficionados a venue for viewing book creativity.

Big Skills in Small Packages: Miniature Leather Bindings Workshop
Leather is one of the most versatile and forgiving materials in bookbinding. Get comfortable working with skins by covering miniature books. This workshop is cosponsored by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers and will be led by Gabrielle Fox, a leading expert and artisan in the binding, conservation, and restoration of fine books.

After Darwin Film Series
Professor Kristen Hawkes from the U of U Department of Anthropology will facilitate a free showing of two films about evolution. The first, The Origin of Species: An Illustrated Guide, examines speciation, domestic breeding, natural selection, and the relationship among all living things. The second, Allan Wilson: Evolutionary, spotlights a researcher who has galvanized the scientific community through his quantitative biochemical approach to the history of evolution.

The Feminine Touch: Women and the Work of the Book Exhibition
Throughout history, women have been involved in every aspect of bookmaking. From the practicalities of folding and sewing to the innovations of presswork to the creativity of the artists' book, the feminine has touched the most important vessel of human communication. This exhibition will be featured in the library's Special Collections Gallery.
