Inter-Related
Library Services
One of the
benefits of having the Curriculum Library in the Marriott Library is the
proximity of the textbook materials to other resources that Education
students might find useful. The Curriculum Library is located on the North
side of Level 3, in the vicinity of other library services such as:
ERIC
Microfiche Cabinets and Microforms Reader/Printers
South of the outer, wood paneled wall of the Curriculum Library there
are several large microfiche cabinets. The ERIC microfiche collection
is comprised of several hundred thousand microfiche that support Education
monographs, conference proceedings, bibliographies and theses/dissertations.
This is where users will come to find the "ED" accession numbers
that they need when doing research in the ERIC database. None of these
titles exist in paper format and that necessitates using a microfiche
reader/printer in order to view the contents of the document or make print
outs. Two machines for this purpose are placed here in order to view or
print these microfiche.
Juvenile
Literature & Index Tables
One of the major reasons for placing the Curriculum Library on Level 3
was to have convenient access to the Marriott Librarys sizeable
Juvenile Literature Collection. This Collection is housed in the shelf
ranges west of the Curriculum Library. These volumes are cataloged by
Dewey Decimal call number, not the Library of Congress call number system.
The shelf range closest
to the western wall of the Curriculum Library contains both a Curriculum
Index Table (for supporting the ERIC and Education Indexes) and a Juvenile
Literature Index Table, which is a terrific source for information about
a variety of topics related to childrens books and authors. A UNIS
terminal has been placed in this vicinity for ease of access in searching
the online catalog for Juvenile Literature books.
Copy
Center/Cashier
Also on the North side of Level 3, East of the Curriculum Library is the
copy center/cashier. This is where students can put money on their ID
card to make copies. They can also take their materials here to make photo
copies of Curriculum materials. Library users can purchase a library card
here.
Instruction
Labs
Next to the East wall of the Curriculum Library are two instruction labs.
Instructors can use these facilities to teach small classes in using databases
and other library web resources.
Interlibrary
Loans
The Interlibrary Loan department is where students go to request books
and copies of journal articles for materials that are not owned by the
Marriott Library. It is especially helpful for acquiring articles to journals
for research results found in ERIC and other academic databases. It is
located South of the Curriculum Library, next to Marriott Library Administration.
