DEPARTMENT OFFICES

GENERAL REFERENCE DESK HAS MOVED to Level 2 in the 1996 building.
SCIENCE REFERENCE DESK HAS MOVED to the northeast side of Level 4, adjacent to the Science Reference collection.

STUDY SPACE
Study space has been rearranged but is not disappearing. Ask at a reference desk for directions to new study space. Quiet space is near call numbers HC-HD, HV, PN, PR-PZ, TL-Z, the Deweys, and the Map Collection. Check also beneath both light wells in the 1996 building and, in the next few weeks near the Level 4 Science Reference Desk. Group Study Space can be found on Level 3 by the Browsing Collection.

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS REFERENCE/BOOK ARTS STUDIO The Studio has moved to the Gould Auditorium; Special Collections Reference and Reading Room has moved into the East side of Level 5.

Plasma cuttingDemolition is still the order of the day as much of the old building must give way before the bracing and ARC can be fitted. This can create a great deal of noise in certain parts of the library. Visit the map for the current “quiet zones”. Remember that much of the library is maintained as a fully functioning wireless network and you can use your laptop or wireless device for access almost anywhere inside the building. See help and infomation for the wireless network.

The ARC will be able to house over 2 million items

The project will create 2,550 additional Utah jobs

The new library will be able to withstand an earthquake as large as 7.2 on the Richter Scale
