Richard H. Tallant was born in 1853 in Ohio. Tallant was a landscape painter and a sketch artist. He died in 1934.
On his way to developing a major artistic reputation in Colorado, Tallant sojourned in the Salt Lake Valley for at least two years.
While Tallant was in Utah he painted a view of the Great Salt Lake. He also worked in Zion National Park.

Richard H. Tallant was an itinerant artist from Ohio. On his way to developing a major artistic reputation in Colorado, Tallant sojourned in Salt Lake Valley for at least two years, sketching and painting. He kept studio space at 44 North 200 West during the first couple of years in the 1890s though his home is said to have been in Estes Park, Colorado, he is known to have been in Utah in 1889 through 1891. He was a landscape painter, painted a view of the Great Salt Lake in 1890, and also worked in Zion Park.
