Explanation of Rush Requests

When the Item Status or Location is shown in UNIS as Item On Order, Monograph Order, In Process or Item Being Cataloged, the item is not yet available on library shelves.

You may place a Rush request at either of the two Circulation Desks; the east desk on Level 3 or the West desk on Level 1. Or by using the Rush Processing web form to have the item rushed through the cataloging process for your use. Unless you request rush processing it may take over a month before the item you want finally reaches the shelf.

Item On Order or Monograph Order
These messages indicate materials that the library has ordered but which are not yet recieved. When you place a Rush request, the item will be processed and made available for your use as soon as it arrives in the library. The Circulation Department will notify you when the item is available, usually within 5-7 working days. If you need the item immediately, consider requesting it through the Interlibrary Loan Office.

Item being Cataloged
or In Process
These messages indicate materials that the library has recieved but which are still in the Cataloging Department waiting to be cataloged and labled. When you place a Rush, the item will be processed and made available to you as soon as possible, usually within 2-3 working days. The Circulation Department will notify you when the item is ready for your use.
